About the English Course
The EFCI Pilot Plain English is taught on site at the Pitt Meadows airport near the main terminal. The aim of the program is to make student pilots safer in the air by raising their level of plain English skills to the operational or extended levels (ICAO Level 4-5) on the ICAO Language Proficiency Rating Scale. This course does not focus on standard radiotelephony. The focus is on complex grammar structures, internationally recognizable pronunciation, and vocabulary themed in aviation. Students can expect to acquire language through a variety of student centered kinesthetic learning tasks. The end goal is a student who has developed an advanced level of complex grammar use, more accurate pronunciation, and a larger bank of aviation vocabulary on which to draw. Students should expect to develop a greater level of fluency and comprehension skills resulting in increased ability to respond immediately, appropriately, and informatively.
