Student Line of Credit
For many pilot-trainees, a Student Line of Credit (LoC) is the most flexible way to fund training milestones (PPL → CPL → Multi/IFR) without taking on more debt than you need at any one time. A student LoC lets you borrow up to a pre-set limit, repay, and re-borrow as you progress—typically with interest-only payments while you’re in school and more time to start paying down the principal after you finish.
Why flight students like LoCs
- Use-what-you-need flexibility:
- Draw funds in phases as you move from hour-building to advanced ratings, rather than taking a single lump-sum loan.
- Typically lower rates vs. credit cards/personal loans:
- Most student LoCs are variable at/near prime (exact margins vary by bank and profile).
- Interest-only while studying + grace periods:
- Makes cash flow manageable during intensive flying blocks. Specific terms vary by bank and program.
- Build credit history responsibly:
- Regular on-time payments help establish credit as you train.
