Lorne McInnes is a successful self-made businessman. In his early twenties he started building up businesses in the service industry. He is now fifty and continues to have success operating 5 businesses. He is also training to become a pilot at Executive Compass Flight Institute. He partly intends to use his PPL for business.

Lorne is the type of person who is committed to learning. He does not resign in the face of adversity. He is determined to learn to fly. Soon he will have his Private Pilot Licence (PPL) and is planning to buy his own airplane. 

Lorne has a few forces driving him to become a pilot; flying has always been a dream of his. However, he also does not want to sit in traffic any more! His home is in North Vancouver. But, one of his offices is in Victoria. Being able to fly from Vancouver to Victoria on his own schedule is quite attractive. A PPL for business is part of the reason Lorne is learning to fly. 

Lorne and his wife also like to travel. With a PPL he and his wife can easily travel to places like Tofino on Vancouver Island. They also have the convenience of travelling to US destinations, such as California.
